    Chairman of the Board

    André Oosterlinck holds the role of President-Chairman of the KU Leuven Association and has previously been a member of the Research Council for the association. He is a member of the Academia Europaea, the European Academy of Science and Arts, and the Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Science and the Arts, and is a board member of the Observatorium Magna Charta Universitatum (Bologna).

    André has also previously been a member of several more noteworthy scientific and research & development associations and companies. He is currently Vice-President at IMEC. And he has also had the honor of serving as science advisor to his majesty Albert II, King of Belgium.

    From 1995 till 2005, André was Rector at KU Leuven, and from 1990 to 1995 he was also Vice-President for Exact Sciences at the university. He has published more than 300 articles in scientific journals and proceedings, and is holder of several patents.

    André specialized in ‘image processing’ at JPL-NASA in Pasadena. He taught as a professor at KU Leuven in 1984 and was director of the ESAT (Electronics System, Automatization and Technology) division from 1984 to 1994. He enjoyed his time as a visiting professor at Utah University and at the A.R.C-IBM Research Center in San Jose, USA from 1986 to 1996.

    André also founded ICOS Vision Systems. This went on to become a Nasdaq quoted company, later sold to KLA-Tencor.
